The Adventure Continues
First Label
OK, wow... actually making progress! So exciting.
Thank you all for feedback thus far (be it over email, phone or the voting process on this site).

Top runners that I also liked are below.
The Orbit and the new thinner mobius are both graphics I created myself (yes, I did that!)

All of the logos below are now "mine" enough that I could use them and can also change their colors / manipulate them a bit.

What you're seeing below is pretty darn close to "actual size" for the first salve tins that we will be giving out as samples (yes, you all get one - though maybe later in the year when they won't melt in the mail)

So now factors are:
-
which logo looks best on a tiny label
-
I'm over the smudge and celtic cross at this point - but want to hear if someone else loves them
-
my favorites are the 3 in the middle of the top 3 rows.
-
-
how much and what kind of "other color" to use (none, block, gradient, texture)
-
company name capitalized, all caps, or no caps
-
company name location: above, below, to the side, all together or split around the logo
-
as you can see, I ended up gravitating toward words split around the logo, but left a few where the words are below so you could see what that looks like.
-
-
font selection: this is tricky - I only have access to specific fonts on the platforms I am using to create these - since I'm limited to the free versions of these platforms, I have to work with what they offer, and since I am going between several platforms, I have to work with fonts that are common between them.
-
I am inclined to go with the "antique script" font you are seeing below because the names of the products are going to tend to be more folky than sciency "wonder salve", "cootchie care", "tonic truffles", and I think it brings in the "made in a cabin in the woods" aspect of the products (to contrast agains the sciency / multiparadigm end).
-
it is for that same reason that I abandoned some of the super clean modern logos - which I really liked, but felt like they were more for spa products than the sorts of things I was going to be making.

Your Feedback
But I would make the name "Synthesis Naturals" larger
Taylor
#2 and #8 for sure!!
Julia K
2 & 3: both super legible (including the brand name; some of the others I think Synthesis Naturals is too small), and I like having the name of the product on a different color background than the logo. My only complaint is a weird one: is "B's" not italicized like the rest of the label, and if so why? Or is that just what the typeface looks like?
5: I wasn't drawn to this logo in isolation, but it looks really nice with the rest of the components. Again, I like the larger typefaces (more legible) and the two-color backgrounds. I think I like the product-name typeface more in this label than the others, largely for readability (that's a word, right?)
Jennifer
Love the logo for 7/13/14. More elegant than the celtic version. I like number 7! or 13. haha....sorry, not much help.
KP
I like #10 the best!I like how the logo is on top, name in middle, and product name on bottom. Also like the font of everything. Aaaand I like the background fade.
Gareth
#10 Is my favorite. Like how clean the sans serif font is, and that logo is my personal favorite. #2 is next. The font works better here for me with the clean divide that the color change creates.
Bonnie
I like 10! Maybe slightly larger font. Awesome!
Mom
I like #5 because the larger fonts are easier for me to read. In particular, I can read the company name better. I like the orbit logo best because it is more colorful. But it may look to sciencey if you are trying to avoid that. Could you do the mobius with a red color in there? You know I like red. I prefer the solid block of color rather than the gradient.
Beck
Also, all of these are "for reals" mine, and usable. I created the orbit and all the smudges myself in paint programs, did all the colorizing of the cross and cross knot myself and all the design work in Canva.... I know they'd look better of a pro did them, but not bad for an amateur eh? Just FYI, smudges are incredibly difficult to do.

I like the orbit and gradient and split words and antique font
